Built in the 11th century AD, the Chandraditya Temple in Barsur is dedicated to Shiva. It is believed that the temple was built by a feudatory chief, Mahamandalesvara Chandraditya after whom the temple is named. It is built on a high platform in the centre of a tank. The mandapa consists of twelve stone pillars, carved on the outside with images of deities. A beautifully sculptured Nandi sits outside, facing the garbhagriha.
